It was a warm winter day in New York and I was ridding in the car with my partner when we go a call.
"Hello this is Dective Ross, whats up. Ah ha. Yep. Okay. On our way. Alrighty kid got a weird one and it is very weird."
"How weird?"
"Lets get to the dumpstor site and you will see."
The lights turn on and we wrer off to the local dumpstor site for the prinsinc. This was not my frist rodio but I was still new to the department and people did not really care for me and my methods. Ross still did not understand much but was still willing to give me a chance. So got to the dumpster site and we walked up to the other officers.
"Hey Ross you will like this. He was found earlier today by one of the hands helps move trach around. No info on who it is yet but just give us some time."
"Alright show me the body and tell me what area this trach might have come from."
We all walked to where the body was found and the smell of rotten meat and spoiled food filled the air. Mounds of trach everywhere knowing anything about a body might nearly imposible. We reached the mound and body was nearly out of the mound.
"So this is where the body was found what do we know about where most of the trach came from?"
"Well based on the trash around the body I would say a resturant with spiral pasta and mash potato." [One of the workers.]
"Hm that eliminates MaDonalds."
They all looked at me with fasees if disgust, like I said something taboo. Then after a moment they all started laughing.
"Nice one Joe, but lets not get a head of ourselves."
Then I finally notic the chess board for the body looking at it from a distance.
"sorry it took so long to get that visible. With so much decay around it was not easy."
I ignored him as Ross walked past me and said
"We are off to a different princint because this mound belongs to them and I am going to see if we can help with the investigation. Come on kid lets get going."
We where quiet till we got into the car and Ross started it up.
"So tell me what you think."
"Well based off of decay that body has been their for about a month or more. Restruant emplyoee and..."
"Thoughs are facts at hand you do not need to do that. What did you see?"
I knew what he wanted to he so I told him.
"Based on the board it would have been two people that killed him."
"Why two people?"
"Well the bishop what in the kill zone which means the pawn that was gaurding that area was also involved in the killing."
"So what does it mean a holy man did it?"
"No in this situation the biship would repersnet an assassin of some sort."
"Well a shooter is out of the question since their are not brooken bones. If the assassin used a blade the mussel would say so."
"Ah but do not forget that poison use to be the best way to kill anyone in the old days. So that would be the best opption."
"So we should make sure that the body gets a toxiclogy done on it."
"It will help, but that tells us how not who."
"Okay we are almost here is thier anything else I should know?"
"Well our list of suspects is quite large."
"Why?"
"Well since it was a pawn that lead to the opening and pawns are know to be family and friends. So once we know who it is we will have a list to work with."
"Its interesting you got a lot from the man with one look. I still say cold cases would be beter then murders."
"I know I do like solving cold cases but being stuck down their everyday for the rest of my life listening to the reaper all the time I would go crazy."
"Hey that was not cool."
"I hear yeah. Both are as rewarding in their own right. I thought I still offer I know they are looking for more people."
"Yeah I will help when I can. I like what I am doing right now."
"Well we are here lets go see if we can help them solve this."
We get out of the car at the other princint and walk in. Since New York is so big there are multiple differnt police stations and some have a few detectives. We meet Jonny and Tim the homiside detective for this princint and hopping they will let us help them with the case.
"Hello detectives I am Tim welcome to our neck of the woods. I understand the body found came from our princint?"
"Hello Tim and we believe so, but at the moment we are not completly sure. This is my partner Joe."
"Oh hello Joe this is Johnny my partner. I get the sence you want to work together to solve the crime. Am I right?"
"Yes we would like to help and solve this. What do you say?"
"Well to work with Detective Ross, why not right. We will learn a lot. Any ideas where we can start?"
"For right now the garbige suggest a resturant that surves pasta with spiral noodles and mash potatos."
"Okay so lets go to the eaters and get some answers. Whos hungry?"
Then me and Johnny rased our hand which at the time was the wrong answer. But I was hungry when he asked. We where both smaked in the back of the head.
"Okay lets go and find answers."
We left the princet to multiple eates to get some answers. For about an hour we found five resturants that surved mash potato and spiral pasta, but since we had no name for the victom we could barly ask any questions. Though we did find out that out of the five resturants 2 had a missing person reported to the police with in the same time period.
"Well that helped us out a little bit, but we do not know who it was or why they were killed."
"Yep but you must be hungry lets get something to eat and call it a night its getting late and Tim and Johnny can check the missing people records to see if one matches our victom.
"Okay what shall we have?"
Then I noticed we where at McDonalds.
"Come on kid lets get some food and head out."
So we went in got some food and got out quickly. Rpss took me home and then told me that he will call if any info came up. I went into my apartment and walked right to my chess board.
"Well that is a strange case you have man murdered and tossed into the trash. Wierd. Would be intersting to see who did it?"
"Yeah but something bothers me, out of the two resturants only one would have the money to pay someone to get him killed. The other one is a small eatery and then do not make a lot."
"Hm that is interesting. Well lets play a game of chess that should help."
We played a round of chess and it was about one in the morning before I went and got some sleep.
I slept till about seven in the morning with knooking at my door.
"Hey Joe we need to go we have a long day ahead of us."
"Give me 20 minutes I do not want you to smell trash this morning."
"I understand. Herry up though. The phernsice wants us first and Tim and Johnny will meet us their."
So I got up and jumped in the shower quickly and got dressed. Got out my door to see Ross with coffee and a donut. We then proseded to his car and went to see the morgtition. The drive was nice and relaxing until my phone started ringing. I look at the number and it was Stephey calling.
"Ross may I its my girlfriend."
"Sure wondering why she is calling so early."
So I answered
"Hello beautiful how are you?"
"I am fine how are you?"
"I am okay working on a case. What can I do for you?"
"What time do you think you will be done?"
"What time do you think we will be done today?"
"Maybe I can get you done by 5pm if she wants to have dinner with you?"
"I can be done by 5pm what to have dinner somewhere?"
"Well my boss is having a big party tonight and I want you to come and meet everyone. What do you say?"
"Sure it should be a lot of fun see you about 6pm them or later?"
"5pm will be fine. See you later baby."
"Later baby."
"Uah. If we are done before 5pm that will be great."
"No problem Joe, what does she have plan?"
"She want me to party and meet her co-workers. It will be really boring."
"It will be fun so I should at your place at 6am tomorrow to wake you up right?"
I looked at him with the look that said try and I beat you up. We got to the morge and meet up with Tim and Johnny and each were carring an extra cup of coffee.
"Morning gentalmen long day ahead of us and here is a cup of coffee to help wake you up more."
Thank goodness I just finished my first or I would feel bad about taking another cup.
"Thanks guys any more info about the two missing people from the resturants?"
"The filles are getting sorted out. The person that deals with missing people is supper slow and dose not know the meaning fast."
"He did say once he finds the filles he will call. Which might be tomorrow or later toningt."
"Alright then we have work to do after we ar done here."
We then walked into the morge to talk to the morgetition.
"Morning gentalmen how are we all?"
"Morning Doctor [Death in a different language] what do you have for us?"
"The victom is five foot five inches, a boxer, a..
"Wait he was a boxer?"
"Yes form some of the bone fractures it was made by someone punching each other and since it looks profesinal I asume he is a boxer. He was mostly healthy before death or before the garbge got in him."
"Alright anything about cause of death or race? Did you do a toxicolgy on the body?"
"I am still working on the toxicology report I still need time since seperating blood and trach is just being a little bit tricky. So in short it will probably be about another six to 24 hours."
"Ah anything else we should know before we head out to get more info and see if we can get a name on the victum?"
"I can tell you race of your victum is hispanic and cause of death right now is being cruched."
"Okay thanks doc we will see you and once you know the toxicology report call please."
